They have 3 church plants and over 500 families that we help with food, medicine and cash for essential needs. CHILD SPONSORSHIP IS A SPECIAL KIND OF LOVE
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO SPONSORS OF CHILDREN IN
Change in Charity
As we have highlighted previously, the Church of God in Eastern Canada has asked the Furaha Child Sponsorship Program administrators to form a separate registered charity to continue operations of its Sponsorship Program.
To support this, a new charity called the Furaha Africa Relief Association (FARA) is in the process of being registered to assume the role of overseeing the operation of the Sponsorship Program in Uganda, Sudan and The Congo. This new charity will continue to work with Colleen Stevenson and her office in Kampala to support the children in the program.
What is Furaha Africa Relief Association?
FARA is a charity that is incorporated in the province of Alberta. The charity has established a board of three directors that currently reports to the members of FARA. The Board of Directors are Del Pierce, Ken Wiebe and Kaili Kasper.
The current members of FARA are: Rick Lewis, Val Krushel, Julie Brundage, Julie Wiebe and the directors.
The Board is looking for persons to take on some of the responsibilities of running the Sponsorship Program such as: correspondence, promotion, data management, etc.. Job descriptions are available upon request. Additionally,we are also looking for others who would consider being involved as members. We invite you to contact the Board to discuss either opportunity further.
When Will the Change Take Place?
The application to be registered as a Canadian Charity was made in May 2020. Presently, the application is being reviewed by CRA and we are waiting approval.
Meanwhile, please continue to support the Furaha Child Sponsorship Program as you have in the past. Operations and support of the sponsor children will remain until the formal transition to FARA occurs. You will be advised when this happens.
If you have any questions please email FARA at firstname.lastname@example.org.
